Dr. Sharma Kenneth Sinanan – Brief Bio

Dr. Sinanan, originally from Trinidad, West Indies, moved to Montreal to attend Laurentian University where he graduated B.A. Cum Laude in Psychology in 1967.

In 1968 he was admitted to the Dental School at the University of British Columbia (UBC); he graduated in 1972.

He practiced general dentistry for six years in downtown Vancouver, BC and was active in study clubs on many subjects including endodontics, periodontics and fixed prosthetics.

In 1978 he enrolled in the post-graduate program for Endodontics at the University of Oregon Health Sciences Centre, Portland Oregon, which was completed in 1980.

Upon returning to Vancouver, he began his endodontic practice downtown and was appointed clinical lecturer, Faculty of Dentistry at UBC.

Some notable professional accomplishments:

1981

 – 

Successfully examined for membership in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada

1983

 – 

His research in the field of root canal irrigation was published in the Canadian Dental Journal

1984

 – 

Successfully examined for fellowship of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Also promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor, Faculty of Dentistry at UBC.

1986

 – 

Asked to be an examiner by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

1991

 – 

After four years at various executive positions, was elected president of the Canadian Academy of Endodontics for the 1991-1992 term.

1997

 – 

Was invited as the principal speaker for an international endodontic conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Dr. Sinanan continues to mentor endodontic study clubs in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island and has given numerous Continuing Education courses. He practices as a Certified Specialist in Endodontics at #500 – 1090 W. Georgia, Vancouver, BC and holds the rank of Clinical Associate Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC.
